The tradition of doll making began in the early 1900s when Seminole women began making dolls for the tourist trade. Handcrafted of palmetto fiber casings stuffed with cotton, they are a head and base but lacking the arms and legs which would be hidden by clothing on a real woman.  The facial features and hair are sewn in place.  Our ornament is dressed in a traditional cape and skirt embellished with rick-rack and patchwork, wearing beaded necklaces and earrings.  The hairstyle is one that was popular from 1930s through the 1940s.  This year we offer doll ornaments wearing two different skirts and capes.  These will be offered for a limited time only!

This glass ornament has been handcrafted in Poland, where the art of making glass tree ornaments has roots that are centuries old.  Each ornament is mouth blown, silvered, painted and glittered by hand.
